It followed a few weaker efforts and emerged towards the end of their very long career, so before hearing it I wasn't expecting much. But it and the EP 'Bird Noises' are the only Oils CDs I still enjoy. This CD came out when Australian politics had turned right wing populist and ugly. The independent, anti-immigrant politician Pauline Hanson was stalking the land. This was the Oils eloquent response. The previous review calls this 'aggressive'. Well, that is part and parcel of Midnight Oil, and always was, so take it or leave it. It is not aggression for its own sake. They share a platform with very few other bands - of any ... Read More: |
