This might be considered an argument that it's sacrilege to improvise with his music or mess with what he wrote. I can see the argument, but I also know that I enjoy these performances very much. The way that McFerrin's vocal introduction slides into Concerto No 23 is delightful, and would make a nice surprise to quiz music-loving friends with. Corea is of course a jazz pianist - and I am a fan of his "Children's Songs" - and it's fascinating to hear him bend his talents to repertoire that is as classical as it gets.
