Exit Planet Dust/Dig Your Own Hole

Search: Piku
by: Chemical Brothers

Release Date September 13, 2004
The Chemical Brothers are rightly praised for their work in the Big Beat movement in the early nineties. In fact, they were heading this movement. These two CDs are a testament to their work on the dance floor.

Exit Planet Dust, their first, is probably their best. Featuring fuzzy guitar riffs, breakbeats, awesome basslines and the best acid riffs ever known, it's no wonder that whenever Tom and Ed hit the decks, the dancefloor is ripped up. Leave Home and In Dust We Trust kick off the journey (you don't listen to the music, you are taken on a voyage) with their fabled break beats, on to Song to the Siren and Three Little Birdies..., it is unrelenting. Fuck Up Beats is exactly what it says, its dirty bassline makes a great, which ... Read More:

Dig Your Own Hole [VINYL]

Search: Piku
by: Chemical Brothers

Release Date March 31, 1997
Way back when, this was one of the defining big beat albums. Massive percussion, explosions etc underneath layers of almost discordant samples and loops. Sometimes you get a nice neat packaged chorus sing a long, and sometimes you get a real mashup of noise. But the quality shines through. And if you turn it up all the way to 11, then it becomes just awesome, the subtleties, the balance of the different layers, ... Read More:
