This is a great compilation - it really does have virtually everything musically that you'd want from Harvest (OK except "Embryo" !!). A very very good sampler showing the growth of the label from the "underground" of Edgar Broughton to the "punk" of Wire passing through hits like "California Man" on the way. Odd bedfellows indeed !! The selling point for me though is the book that holds the CDs in place - beautifully presented and with thousands of illustrations. You do feel like holding it up to the rest of the music industry and saying "LOOK - this is how you present a label overview". Yes it's not cheap but it is a truism - you get what you pay for in this instance. Highly recommended

I bought my CD at a second hand stall at St Albans market. It cost me £7.50, rip off? No way, as I have played this to death. My CD is poorly, cough cough, scatch and a jump, not long for this world. Sorry but a cassette is just not good enough. I suppose it is if you haven't heard it before.

With this CD I also got a mint booklet, maybe the previous owner didn't realise it was there. Not counting the covers, there are eight pages to the booklet. Pieces written by the arranger Jaz Coleman and Roger Dean. Good read.

Having successfully mined the cheesey end of 1970s pop with their Super 70s series, EMI Virgin have now turned their attention to the deep pool of rock talent that was around then and have scored a definite bullseye.

From Free's "All Right Now" at the start of the decade to the Undertones' "Teenage Kicks" at the end, all relevant bases are covered to give an excellent snapshot of what great music there was available thirty years ago. And, while most of the population over a certain age will doubtless already have most of these tracks salted away somewhere on vynil LPs, it is nice to have a collection like this for use in the car or when hosting a party. Dad Rocks!

So what if I already have all these tracks.

My 8 year old daughter bought this for me, the track listing is excellent and we rock together.

It's a Dad and child thing and I don't care about the artistic merits.

Just enjoy the music with whoever bought it for you.
