Glory Hope Mountain is the debut UK release for Canada's The Acorn, though the band has previously released two albums in their home country . In 2006 the bands front man Rolf Klausener recorded a series of interviews with his mother, Gloria Esperanza Montoya, some of which can be heard imperceptibly in the background of "Sister Margaret" on this album. The interviews inspired a series of songs about Gloria's life, a poignant tribute from her son, which became Glory Hope Mountain. This bold musical biography chronicles Gloria's abusive childhood in Honduras and her escape to begin a new life in Canada.
So Glory Hope Mountain can be classed as a concept album but it is a palpably sincere project eschewing any pretension or gimmickry .The ... Read More:

This compilation has the kind of instant appeal that will have your middle-aged dad getting his groove on. If you like dubby, jazzy house music with a funky, easygoing beat, this is going to stay in your CD player for quite some time. I have been a fan of H foundation for a while, and this is the most solid mix from either one of them that I have heard. The programming is top-notch, the mixing is as smooth as you can get, and there are plenty of tracks that I would love to have in my own box. This compilation is definitely in my top 5 for 2002; I suggest you give it a try and find out why!

Bargrooves Fall is one of those jewels amongst the glass of common milled 'chill house'. I for one am very pleased with this, let me describe it:
The 1st CD, track 1 gets your attention with a cool echoing soulful voice alongside a subtle break beat backing this is a soothing smooth synth. 2nd track by Soularis slides into the mix with a deep, bassy but still cool big beat, I love the euphoric synth on this one, definitely one of my favourite on the album.
From here on the 1st CD goes very American which in my opinion is not bad but not quite floor filling. Track 8 by Ski Oakenfull changes this by sliding in with a massively mellow synth sound across a slow sensual beat, the rest of the cd leads out with the very catchy latin ... Read More:

After hearing FBN when it was released and digging on that for awile when COS was released I eagerly scooped it up, put it on the turntable and proceeded to crank up the headphones...It was absolutely One of the most memorable listens to a new release in my entire life...and I have had many! It was the production ot the individual instruments that really caught my ear. Neil wailing away all over the place, Alex going back and forth in my head with that gut wrenching KILLER lead guitar work and Geddy doing my favorite vocals of his ever along with his Wonderful Bass playing. I miss that singing style he had back then. Too bad when guys get older they feel like they have to be more refined or whatever. The live Closer To The Heart just isn't the same ... Read More:
