Brought up listening to my Dad playing this music I developed a very strong taste for Motown. This album is awesome. There are so many old classics and a few unknown but really good tunes to be found. The mix is perfect and I really enjoy listening to this album. A must buy for fans of motown, R&B and soul.

There are literally dozens of different Motown complations to choose from and sometimes picking one could seem quite bewildering. The other difficulty these days is actually to come up with a way of compliling them which is both original and likely to entice. Jon Savage has taken a rather unique approach to selecting his tracks for "Shadows Of Love" focusing the attention on the darker side of the lyrics to songs all taken from what many would consider the real golden age of Motown.

If like me you are a huge fan of the Runaways, and are having trouble obtaining the albums on CD, this is a fairly satisfying way of indulging your craving for the band.

The tracks are taken from the first three studio albums, with two tracks from the Live In Japan import LP - which for fans shows that the cover is a little misleading, as no fewer than five songs are not by the line up as indicated on the front!

Starting with two songs from the eponymous first LP, "Cherry Bomb" and "Blackmail" show the band's initial spirit of five schoolgirls wanting to get down and rock, with "Cherry Bomb" in particular becoming an anthem for lead singer Cherie Currie to belt out the lyrics.
