. Cowgirl's PrayerSearch: Prayer In Open D by: Emmylou Harris Release Date May 12, 1994 This album along with wrecking ball and red dirt girl, is one of emmylous best. Much of emmylous work is far too country for my taste and it is a shame that there are no listening downloads for the tracks on this album because if someone has only got to hear the samples of her more traditional country albums they could easily be put off her work by assuming that is all this artist has to offer, but emmylou is far more than country!! Along with Chris Isaak and Jack Johnson she is one of my favourite artists, her lyrics are deep and evocative and her voice is wild and delicate whilst often deep and strong. But on this record it really works. The guitar playing of Buddy Miller is a revelation and his harmonies with Emmylou on "True Love Ways" are beautiful. Harris is terrific throughout.
