The Vienna Classic Rock orchestra have obviously taken leave of their senses with this ill-conceived and ill-executed, muddled mistake of an album. Lacklustre renditions of all your favoutite Eagles classixs do little to enhance the reputation of one of popular music's most derided but most important genres, the orchestral rock-out. The one bright note, though, is a very special guest appearance by Donald Henley Jr., son of original Eagles' skins pounder Donald Henley Sr., on the albums version of 'Hotel California'. Whilst the album fails to convey the raw emotionalism of many of the originals, it does manage to exude a sense of urgency and excitement that just fail to save the LP. Strictly one for the completists, I'm afraid.

Having purchased this item myself and with two 'Universal Players' capable of playing surround DVD-Audio (and SACD), I can confirm that unfortunately this item is just DTS Surround and does NOT contain DVD-Audio. I say this because a DVD-Audio option does not appear when the disc is loaded into a DVD-Audio player, nor is there any mention of DVD-Audio in the accompanying packaging with the disc. A shame, because the Surround Sound is good even with DTS (but is likely to have been even better with the higher bit and sampling rate of DVD-Audio). Therefore just 3 stars, because the sound won't be any better than the DVD (with DTS), which also includes the video of the concert.

The song was "Hotel California," and my perception of music changed then and there, once and for all.
