Normally, one year's fresh new dance compilation album is the following year's charity shop over-stock, but with this compilation I'd make an exception- it's a CD that eight years later will still find it's way into my CD player every once in a while.

Yes, it's very very cheesy in places and there are some bad musical memories on there (everyone who bought ATB's "Killer" must surely regret it) but there are also a few classics that are still in high regard- ranging from the classic Ferry Corsten mix of the William Orbit-produced "Adagio For Strings", plus "Groovejet", a jazzy version of "Don't Call Me Baby", some of Moloko's "The Time Is Now", and slightly incongruously, the brilliant "Man With A Red Face" by Laurent Garnier.

i didn't buy this album when it first came out, and haven't listened to it for ages. so i decided to wipe off the dust and listen to it once more. best decision i ever made. after three years this album is still the most superb trance nation. it has some great uplifting trance tunes from 99/00 and amongst them is matt darey's beautiful, which was released (again?) last year. which i absolutely love.
it also has fragma's toca me which is such a chilled out summery tune. on top of that is ATB's killer which is just amazing, and better still it has ralph fridge's angel which is totally gorgeous.

Kiss gets it consistently right with its compilation albums and this one is no exception. It contains all of the really great tunes of a truly unforgettable year. Particular favourites on it are Moby, William Orbit and Ralph Fridge. This album doesn't fade with repeated listening and brings back great memories of a wild summer in Ibiza. Believe it.

From 1999 - 2001 was a real special time for trance music and because it was the turn of the millenium. Never will music be produced to such quality again. Euphoric trance was at its peak at this time before ministry of sound and various other record labels managed to get old of the genre and turn it cheesy. Yes the millenium was a very special time not just because it was just that "the millenium" but for all of those of us that were into clubbing at that time the music was simply mindblowing and euphorically amazing!. I'm not mad enough to anathemize a two-disc set because the tracks aren't mixed together, and I'm also not daft enough to assume that most listeners of this kind of trance frequent clubs. Nearly everyone I know who is into their electronica listens to it while at work, in the car, or at home with a beer, and blurring the edges of tracks serves no purpose in these settings. Not only is it nice to be able to tap FFWD on the CD player without the tail end of the previous number jumping over the start of the next, it's also a silent thumbs-down to that nonsense profession of "DJ".

Anyway. Most of the tunes on this double album are top rate. Sometimes things can get a little too commercial ("Bullet In The Gun", for example) or a little too hard for living ... Read More:

Superb album, better than the 1st and that was damn good too. after reading previous reviews slagging this album for being outdated, well thats what this album is all about, it caters for those old enough to remember and appreciate the best days in trance history REGARDLESS of whether you the buying public own any of the separate tunes on this album,previous trance albums released by other trance labels have put a few dozen decent tunes on their albums and then the rest have been crappy, unlike this album where each and every tune is superb. basically its ALL the BEST tunes on one album, making it the best trance compilation album released to date. (in my opinion!)

Some of the very best tracks from some of the best artists all concentrated in to one compilation of non stop music.
I liked all 3cd's but may be the cd's 1 and 2 slightly more than the 3rd, but then again I think I am being too critical. You would want to keep listening to them over and over again.
Judge Jules has done a brilliant job at mixing this in a excellent order. The music from different artists play on seamlessly. If you like this kind of music you will not be disappointed. Just brilliant.

There is absolutely nothing new here. All these tracks have been played to death. Every classic tune you could want from the Golden Age of Cheese is present and correct. True, as one reviewer points out, you probably have most of them already - somewhere - but this set saves you a lot of digging around down the back of your record boxes.

The even better news is that this is a compilation, not a mix - so it is very DJ-friendly. Note: most of these tracks are singles versions, not extended mixes, remixes, whatever. Probably no bad thing either.

The three CDs are pretty much all thriller, no filler. Great for replacing those long-lost tunes, and an excellent snapshot for anyone who missed out the first time round.
