What do you imagine when you hear the words "remixes" and "David Sylvian"? Well, it's hardly likely to be Disco Dave, I know. But maybe, like the "Darshan" remixes, a pleasantly ambient groove, perhaps. Think again.
A previous reviewer titles his review "easier on the ear..." (than the original). If that is true then gawd help the original.
This is like listening to 9 versions of "A Brief Conversation Ending In Divorce" with lyrics. Discordant and disageeable musical doodles, nothing more.
Okay, much as I love Dave's back catalogue, his albums always take a number of listenings before coming into their own. But this dirge? I don't feel encouraged to play it even twice.

I can call myself a Gainsbourg fan. But lately, I busied myself with some newer genres of music, such as Lounge, House and Drum&Bass. My two passions come together on this record. Some remixes are hardly recognizable, others barely differ from the original. But it was all done very respectful to Gainsbourg. My favorite is Herbert's mix of Bonnie&Clyde; fenomenal!!! Other good ones are: Howie B with a floating Melody Nelson, Demon Ritchie with a funky Sea Sex& Sun and Dzihan&Kamien provide us with an barely recognizable Je t'aime...moi non plus. But there is barely a bad track on this CD. The only remix which dissapointed me a bit, was Bob Sinclar. So, if you love Serge, and you like contemporary electronic music, you should really ... Starting with 2 17+ minute remixes, this 4 record set is simply amazing!! There are some personal favourites like Keiichi Suzuki and Maurizio. It includes a nice balance here between some popular and some not so popular personal choices of LX Paterson. Additional production on top of the remixes are found here that are not on the original singles. Overall this is a great collection of artists that actually prove the Orb mixes are better than the original version. The only down side is that there are a number of other great remixes not included here. Such as the Marathon singles from '89.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to write!
