This double album set effectively gives you the two sides of Jerry Lee Lewis. 1972's The Killer Rocks On is a rock 'n' roll record, delivered with irreverence, virtuosity and a devilish sense of cheek. 1974's Boogie Woogie Country Man is mainly a country affair, with melancholy ballads often conjuring a level of emotion that feels more like confession than performance.
'...Rocks On' is the stronger of the two albums, but both have a hearty helping of awesome tracks: 'Chantilly Lace' and 'Turn On Your Love Light' are rollicking dance classics, and 'Forever Forgiving' and 'I'm Still Jealous Of You' are great examples of the kind of true-hearted emoting that came instinctively to Jerry Lee, but was simply beyond so many other artists. ...
