This is the best ever 80s collection, For the amount of songs you can get for about more or less 10 pounds, you get plenty of value for money. Combined together with the second volume, the collection becomes even better.
Some of the songs may not be familiar to UK listener as they may be predominantly American hit singles and vice versa. The only reason why I give this collection 4.5 stars is that it doesn't includes lyrics, liner notes or even chart positions but maybe that would be too much to ask for.However, I don't know why relax by FGTH is repeated in both collections which is a waste of money. Most of all, it would have been great to
include American artists signed to EMI affliated labels such as the Motels (Only The Lonely) ... Read More:

first of all I do own this CD set & yes there is some good songs in the set but the sound is poor the record level has been set so high when they put the 12" to CD or the record player they used was so poor it shows & in some of the songs you can tell as the speakers go mad as the recording level is set to high I'm using Missions M35i and they can take anything but they don't like these CDs at all I paid £6.99 for the set and I would say it's not worth no more the tracks on the CDs are not rare at all you will get them on other 12" 80s that is sold by Amazon and these you can enjoy playing on your HIFI without the problems of this box set

Got the vinyl version, so I can't vouch for the mixing, but knowing Mr Vega I'm sure it's faultless. Sweet collection; captures the period where disco becomes house. Fair few on here that keep turning up everywhere, but they're none the worse for it. If you don't know at least half the tracks on this then I can't think of a better place to start. Particularly sublime are essentials from Idris Muhammed, Joubert Singers, Cloud One and The Clash. Lots of lesser known tracks from big artists here which surely should have deserved more airplay, such as Booker T and the MGs and Chocolate.
