I grew up in England and we had this compilation on cassettes. Listening to the songs again brings me back to my childhood.

Great, classic English songs that are fun to listen to even as an adult! They clearly have a lasting effect, seeing as I listened to these songs when I was 4 years old, and am now 18.

I would definitely recommend buying this.

the influences of the 50's and 60's has what got me into the hard rock so this compilation even though its tinged with the sweetness and innocence of pre beatles pop is a gem since i must be one of the few (22 years old) to listen to it since it contains tracks from the beach boys to the animals which i love and most rock stars like Ozzy Osbourne and Lemmy Kilminster cite there influences that got them where they are now so im proud to be of that company that loves music as way back as it was back then which is nothing to be ashamed of thats why i give this compilation 5/5

This album has little to do with the 'Carry On' film series, as a glance at the track listing will tell you. Basically the compilers have flung together anything they could find by any cast members of the films. And in order to make up a double CD they have really scraped the barrel.

There are songs on here from the cast of the 1950's tv series 'The Army Game' and they have not stood the test of time. There are awful non-comedic songs from the likes of Roy Castle, Anita Harris, Bill Maynard, Barbara Windsor,Peter Gilmore and last and by all means least Jim Dale. In fact two of the Jim Dale songs are so bad that they are unintentionally hilarious, so maybe they are worthy of this album.

I don't own this boxed set, but I own recordings of many of the routines on it, and I am stunned at the other reviewer's comment. This has many classic routines and many brilliant performers. Alan Bennett's "Take a Pew," rocks, as does Beyond the Fringe's "Royal Box." I've played those and several others from this collection on my public-radio comedy show in the US because I've wanted to share this with these lapsed colonists
"divided by a common language." Billy Connelly, Joyce Grenfell, Peter Sellers--come on, this is great stuff!
