I'm new to the whole compilation disc thing. I expected the songs to be the original versions, but no the DJ decides to try and spruce them up, which is OK at times i guess but that's not what i wanted. I wante dthe originals.
The CD entices you with the first disc, but then unless your a true garage fan the others do not appeal as much.
I personally regret buying this, but i'm not a true garage fan anyways, purely commercial stuff so maybe you'd prefer it if you are.

Disc 1 of this doube-CD set is more RnB/Hip-Hop inspired, whereas disc 2 is more HARD house.
Now, I like my deep bass, and this album doesn't fail to deliver.
In my opinion, you can save yourself an hour of your life, and throw disc 1 away. Disc 2 deserves a permanent place in your multi-changer in your car.
I would give this album 5 stars, but disc 1 brings the overall score down. :(
There is an added bonus with disc 1 though- The last minute or so of the disc is a selection of bass tones to test your subwoofer. If you've wondered just how deep your home or car bass can go, this will show you...

Best of the Pure Garage series in my opinion. CD1 is a bit hit and miss but CD2 more than makes up for it. The usual EZ mixing (goood) and sick selection - highlights of which are 'Decoy', 'Danger', and 'G.A.R.A.G.E.'. MC Kie also features, to give a bit of a rave feel without overdoing it with the chats. If there's one Garage mix compilation you should get, then get this.
Release Date December 27, 2004
What can I say, as soon as I saw this CD advertised on the TV I just knew I had to get it and I certainly was not disappointed, what a great blend of hip-hop,R&B,Bashment etc this CD is just pure class!!I would highly reccommend it!x

Like the legendary Retrospective of House series before it, the release of Retrospective of Garage in February, with an innovative track listing, seamless mixes and star DJs, is set to stand out amidst the much maligned rash of half hearted garage compilations.
In a reaction against what they considered to be an unnecessary determination to fragment the dance scene into pure genres, the producers and DJs took the bold step to mix just the the cream of garage (previous, current and unreleased) with a collection of epic house classics. The result is a timeless journey into the roots of dance rather than than a 'flash in the pan' compilation of two minute slices of garage which inevitably fail the test of time.

Amazing. Cannot speak highly enough of it. It is worth the price for the first cd alone which is probably the best Garage mix i have ever heard. EZ has come through yet again!
Release Date December 29, 2003
Got to be the most consistent of the series, although I have only the EZ mix, which I am greatly impressed by, as the tracks seem to blend into each other quite nicely and doesn't interupt the flow of the set. Seems like the track selection has been wisely spent, picking tracks that go with the flow and not just thrown together as previous outings!
