I admit it, I am a massive fan of Enya, from the moment I heard Orinoco Flow. I have all her albums, singles and compilations. In my book, she was the start of New Age music. So, I admit to being biased! Her albums take a while to make and the wait is difficult to take. However, when she releases an album, she delivers a 4 or 5 star album.

I agree with the sentiments from Paul of the Netherworld, my fellow reviewer from Brighton who, in his review of the CD single of Amarantine, spoke about other music which exists and tends to dominate the charts.

I am a very big fan of Enya and have been for many years.I have to say though that I consider 'Amaratine' to be one of her weaker efforts.Although we know just what we will get from her music,this album at times feels almost too predictable and almost sluggish.

Of course there are some moments of excellence,there always are from her.'Amarantine' and 'It's In The Rain' are Enya at her very best but if I am being honest I do in general find this album to be a bit of a let down.She is a top drawer talent to be sure but Enya has done much better than this.For any other artist this would be a good effort but for what I have come to expect from Enya it is average.Still,it does have it's moments.

Riding the Great Fantastic

This is a classic UK prog/psych album with all the bands usual charm and quirkiness, my personal favourite track is `Whatever happened to Valerie` because it reminds me of the brilliant Nick Drake, but I also dig the title track `Riding the great fantastic` because it reminds me of another of my favoured artists Hawkwind and that is what makes this album so good it contains all that was great about Psychedelic/Progressive/Underground music from the late sixties without falling in to a paticular catagory. Superb It also features a great Psychedelic cover.
