I bought this album like a lot of people on the back of previous material ie ' frampton comes alive ' and realise now that there was no way that this album would be as good or better, which is sad because am sure that a lot of work went into producing it.
The album to my mind is a dissapointment and have only played it a few times.
Sorry if this upsets some fans, and I realy like a lot of his material in fact am always playing ' frampton comes alive ' but this CD leaves me a little cold.

Coming just 2 years after Taylor's last album of covers songs (James Taylor at Christmas, itself a reissue of the 2004 Hallmark James Taylor Xmas Cd) and a year after the unplugged live album, this new album again highlights how indifferent Taylor's career has been. Once memorably described as a purveyor of counter culture melodies, Taylor never recaptured the heights of his Sweet Baby James album of 1970. The rest of the '70's saw Taylor settle into an easy pattern of having hits with other peoples songs whilst having very few self penned hits (and this guy was inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame??!!) Well I went to see these guys last night (Glasgow), and although Geno was without the original band members, the new band were absolutely excellent. Now I'm 22 years old and should probably not be listening to this kind of thing according to MTV's programming at our age group, but I've had this lp passed down to me from my dad (on vinyl) and it has more energy and power than any of the so called 'bands' we're subjected to now. Every song has the unique Geno re-interpretation and it just sounds fantastic. It's soul with real guts to it, not the R.Kelly sugar coated substitute. So if you're feeling fed up with current music may I heartily recommend the purchase of this most fantastic album, it will refresh your taste buds....
