. The Essential CollectionSearch: Roads by: Junior Walker Release Date Jnr Walker hardly fitted Berry Gordy's "Sound Of Young America" image for Motown, being easily the oldest of the labels stars. His sound wasn't really that typical of Motown either with a voice that was 'rougher' & more gritty than the labels usual sound. He also played sax & was (I think) the only instrumentalist to have hits for Motown. In the early days the sax was raw & usually found on Junior's more obviously Motown songs such as "I'm A Road Runner" & "How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You" & his No. 1 song "Shot Gun".
