I grew up in England and we had this compilation on cassettes. Listening to the songs again brings me back to my childhood.
Great, classic English songs that are fun to listen to even as an adult! They clearly have a lasting effect, seeing as I listened to these songs when I was 4 years old, and am now 18.

Today you imagine this sort of stuff appeals more to adults than kids yet its somehow hard to understand how Sixteen Tons could have been a Childrens Favorite.
Supposedly based on the results of requests you take their word for it.
Many of these tracks were produced by the pre Beatles George Martin-Mandy Miller and Bernard Cribbins for example.

This cd was purchased for my son, it very well maybe the worst cd I've come across for children, starting with "Jake the Peg" by Rolf Harris, apparently Jake the peg had three legs, and when he was a baby his father found it difficult to put his nappy on... No I'm not joking this is on the first track of the cd! This cd struck me as more of an adult comedy skit, Im trying in some way to end on a positive note...

At the moment I play the classical CD in my car and we play the 'new-age' CD to our 10 week daughter to ease her to sleep - it works a treat and the music hasn't started to grate on our nerves. It's not really 'new-age' it's just that I don't know how better to describe it really. The other two CDs we will leave playing until she advances in age.
The CDs come package with a handy track-listing booklet - but wait there's more: to save embarassment there are words for the nursery rhymes. Additionally, the ... Read More:

Not everything here will be regarded equally yet here is the only place the Luton Girls Choir share space with the Beatles!
Many highlights-the original version of Little Red Monkey by Frank Chacksfield featured Tommy Reilly-who has a track here-but did Martin produce this version? What we get is the vocal by Benny Lee & Joyce Nicholls.
Ray Cathode was George Martin himsself in disguise in a piece of electronic music.
There's actually a sampler taken from this Box for anyone just needed a sample but this is the Complete Version where you get a full book as well
