Fefe Dobson's eponymous debut album isn't really what it's hyped (or unhyped) up to be: it's definitely not another following-the-Avril-footsteps kind of album. What makes Fefe Dobson's first venture in the world of mainstream music engaging is the combination of original, edgy, and melodic pop/rock songs minus the Avril cheese. Also, Dobson's album somewhat seems more "real" and unforced/premedidated: because the lyrics and how the songs are produced seem to be more natural on Fefe, there are rarely any awkward moments here. There are a few albums that personify my youth and this is one of them. Pyromania is a classic album, ahead of its time and there isn't one duff track. Many believe that its successor, Hysteria, is superior, but although it is a fantastic album, I found it more quantity than quality.

This album though just rocks, and it really did come to characterize the '80s. Released in 1983, it was a massive success in the USA, but, for some reason, UK audiences took time to catch on to its class. Only Michael Jackson's Thriller album sold more copies in the States.

Def Leppard outsold many band of the 1980s, and this compliation of their best hits proves why. Hits from the early years of recording, like "Photograph" and "Rock of Ages" are within the compilation, and are complimented with the hits from their biggest selling album, "Hysteria", like "Animal", and "Rocket". Included also are some songs from their albums in the mid 1990s, like "When Love And Hate Collide", which scored highly in the UK charts. Of course, their biggest hit, "Pour Some Sugar on Me" is the first track, so that will definately get any listener going.

The band itself produces absolutely brilliant music, and this album clarifies the imapct Def Leppard had on the music world. I would also call this a masterpiece.

I bought this album for Christmas,as I wanted a great collection of Def Leppards' songs.I had already bought Vault when it was released in 1995,and wanted an updated version.I found this on Amazon,and noticed it had more songs on it than the Best Of which was released in UK.The songs range from their first album release,On Through The Night,to the latest covers album,Yeah!.If you want to buy a Best Of album,then I highly recommend this one.I have listened to it too many times already!
