Some more great early forties stuff here. Not packed with classics like that essential album I've mentioned above, but everything here is at least interesting. And certainly a handful of these tracks are amongst the best of the period: "Frenesi", "John Hardy's Wife" (titled "John Hardy" on this disc), "Bounce", and "Perdido". There are also a few songs from the singers featured on "Mellotone", Herb Jeffries and the more famous Ivy Anderson. These don't appear to be to everyone's taste - the vocal mannerisms, particularly of Mr Jeffries, perhaps making these tracks seem dated in a way the instrumentals do not: you can always skip these.
