. Verdi: RigolettoSearch: Sally from: EMI Release Date November 21, 2000 I am a fan of Sills and Milnes and own several of their endeavors.This is a very interesting CD. Sills's voice is not as flexible as in the past,however,her voice still brings chills down my spine...It sounds tired at times and some of the florid passages are not as easily executed as in the past. Milnes is a very powerful Rigoletto. He brings the character to life which is rather hard to accomplish when one is recording and is not a life perfromance. Alfredo Kraus has some weak parts in the recording and leaves a lot to be desired.I found very little character in his performance...He was not lecherous enough for my tastes. Rudel did his usual great job of conducting. I would recommend this to any Sills's fan,although,one may be a littledisappointed. |
