Release Date May 30, 2000
There are plenty of vintage blues CDs around, many of which are fairly low-priced. With some, you know exactly why. The cover is cheap and nasty, the liner notes minimal, the sound quality abysmal. Buy a Catfish title and you wonder what the other companies are playing at! The packaging is decent, the price is right and, given the indifferent quality of the originals that are available, the sound quality is very good.
Scrapper Blackwell's name is largely associated with that of the piano player Leroy Carr, and this album features a touching tribute song to Carr, "My old pal blues." The liner notes describe Blackwell as "one of the most brilliantly innovative guitarists in the history of recorded blues."

If you're looking for any CD's with movie music, this would be my first, and only, stop. There's something for everyone, and although stuff like the Indiana Jones theme is missing, and the opera CD (Disc 5) is a little week, the likes of "Ride of the Valkiryies" and "Ode to Joy" is just timeles, and best of all, immortalised by the films they're featured in, the compliment of all compliments to these films. It's very cheap to, I would highly recommend this.

This CD is a great purchase, even if you haven't seen the film, or saw it and didn't like it. From the opening track, "Anywhere But Here", one is catapulted by K.D. Lang's superb voice into a state of appreciation, where ever chord is a delight. The track listing follows nice pattern; several upbeat numbers, followed by a slow one, like "I Wish", "Amity" and "Strange Wind" by Poe (the harmonies of which must be heard to be believed); all of these leave you desperate for more. The only let down on this CD is "Chotee" by Bif Naked, which is odd, as their song "Lucky", on the Buffy The Vampire Slayer Soundtrack still ranks as one of my favourites. The song is painfully repetitive and ... Read More:
