If you like reggae such as Bob Marley and UB40 and havnt looked past these well known artists this CD will broaden your reggae knowledge and make you appreciate other reggae artists of the past. Little Esther (later Esther Phillips) had a very significant voice wich not everybody enjoys. I personally think it's very emotional and sexy and I hold her as one of the greatest female blues- and soulsingers ever.

She was only in her lower teens when she started recording for Savoy, but this collection represents her stay at King/Federal in the early fifties. It features raunchy, pre-rock'n'roll R&B as well as bluesy ballads, all well worth lending an ear for anyone interested in african-american music from that age.

Extra worth mentioning is the track "Deacon Moves In" with Esther featuring The Dominoes. One of the greatest rock'n'roll songs ever including an inspired guitar break (Pete wilson), although nobody used ... Read More:

If you're new to Marley then you can't do better than this album, and if you're already a fan then this a great collection of his stuff in one place. Worth it for 'No woman no cry' alone! There are many reasons why you should get this CD with the bonus disc instead if the the single disc version: a) the single disc is pretty much a rehash of the classic "Legend" greatest hits compilation with a few older and newer tracks added, so it doesn't offer as much value as this limited edition 2 disc. b)If you've never brought any Bob Marley before the 2 disc gives you a lot of tracks from his earlier years that you may never have heard of, however please be assured that there is no such thing as a bad Bob Marley song! c) If you are a die hard fan like me the 3 new tracks (2 remixes and a new song called "Slogans")are worth having, and this 2 disc set has so many great tracks on it!!!
