Well here is a selection of music that is right up there with the hottest name in jazz funk and soul a mixture of chilled vibes and laid back tunes, But doe sit really cut the mustard?

I have to agree that Head candi was gettinga bit stale and samley but is this really the way forward?

I think the jury is still out on that.

The combination is great but it lacks a certain something that head candi really needs to survive (Drive)

I think presonally Head Candi is never gonna lose it's way but isn't it time to rehashing old vibes and link to the new generation

Sadly dissapointed!!

I've sung the praises of the the Global Underground label many times, and following this release, i'm not shutting up any time soon.
I could run through my usual tracks that standout, but it's no under-statement when i say this comp is packed to the rafters with great great tracks.
Essential purchase!

I bought this album as a present for my girlfriend and have since borrowed/stole it from her as it is an amazing collection of music. The vibe is very chilled but with enough pace to keep your foot tapping, great for relaxing to or turn it up and you've got a cd for getting ready to go out to. This is a must have compilation of Parisian chilled jazzy, house grooves that will keep you coming back for more!!!!

I'm a big fan of the Ministry of Sound's more laid-back collections, and the Chillout series is a great way to be introduced to 'intelligent' artists and styles you won't often hear elsewhere. But this album is a long way short of some of the earlier efforts, and I question whether many of the tracks are Chillout at all.

The best Chillout tracks are a downbeat blend of electronic drum & bass, samples and novelty synthesiser noises with more traditional accoustic instruments and vocals, in just the right proportions to send a mellow ripple through your body. There is almost none of that here.

Balance 009: Mixed By Paolo Mojo

Paolo Mojo's mix for the Balance series strikes me as being the most original of them all. I don't know much about the different genres of House/Dance music, nor do I know many of the Artists names. However I am a great listener and Paolo's mix is great listening.
Its not your average House/Dance music tracks that he has chosen for this CD. Its a great variety of rhythms, tempos, styles and sounds. The mix shifts in constantly surprising ways - taking ones attention from deep to high, and from fast to slow. Great variety.
This does not mean the mix sounds disjointed, its refreshing rather than disjointed. The track selection is excellent and the mixing/compiling is exhilerating.

I have just come back from holiday where I had this album, and the new Zero 7 one, on constant rotation. They are both perfect for listening to whilst sitting watching the sunset, or lying on the beach as the water twinkles in the sunlight. OK. neither album is going to change the course of popular music, and sure, there are some tracks on Pete's album that some people might class as being too close to 'muzak', but taken as a whole, this is a well-compiled and enjoyable addition to the 'chill-out' compilation genre. Oh, and the remix of the Sebastion Tellier track is terrific !
