Som Ambiente is an instrumental trio outing, and a lesson in lounge-core, featuring the three musicians who were to become the backbone of the band Azymuth (their big dancefloor hit was 'Jazz Carnival', disco meets Brazil, back in the 80's). Cheesier than a Gruyere factory at full production, some might think this hell, others, like me, will be in heaven (check the cover - the beautiful people of Rio, circa 1960-something). Wonderfully melodic material, played with obvious joy. It's cheeky music, wearing a 60's grin. It's Hammond heavy, with organ taking the lead role (well, there's a bit of whistling too!), and bass, drums/percussion supporting.
