First, let me say that this is a lovingly-compiled CD, complete with extensive sleeve notes and a quality sound at a low price. The notion, however, that this is a flawless collection of PJP genius is somewhat over the top. Proby was clearly a hugely talented and versatile singer, but there lies a problem. When he focused on singing in his own way, he was as good as any of his contemporaries. Scattered across this album, however, are almost parodic impersonations of other singers, often in genres he appeared to be half-heartedly dabbling in.

Jose sings fantastically in English, Spanish and Italian on this CD of well known favourites.

I love his version of Che Sara which was a hit in Italy. It tells poingnantly of a young man leaving his village for work in the City, not knowing where he will end up, taking his old guitar for company. One more tour of the village where he had his friends, most of them gone now, real life told in a song.

This is one of my all time favourite albums. Great for the car and one I always love to listen to. His music is timeless and as cool as if it were just written. You have probably heard most of these numbers anyway on the radio from time to time. Fantastic too for a romantic evening in with someone.

I can honestly say that this is one of the best CDs I own. The BeeGees are fantastic when they're live, and every song is sensational.

I can't find anything bad to say about this CD. It's one of those CDs that you listen to time and time again.

On 'Horizontal', The Bee Gees lower the mask they adopted on their 'First' album. Whereas that album was awash with dramatic, psychedelia-influenced devices, this is much more a work of straight pop songs. 'Massachusetts' goes to the heart of what they're about, the creation of pop tunesmiths rather than of art rockers or disco merchants. There are still traces of the previous album here, notably on the superb 'Lemons Never Forget' and the famous 'World'. But the simple 'And The Sun Will Shine' is more representative. Perhaps significantly, they dusted this song off for some of their later concerts.
