First of all I have to say that I am not a Atmosphere fan whose all precious and sentimental about their early work. Their previous full length 'You can't imagine how much fun we're having' was a great album that worked on all levels from start to finish. From the opening boom bap of 'Watch Out' and 'Panic Attack' to the smooth 'Say Hey There' to the emotional closer 'Little Man', they didn't put a foot wrong.

But something's up with 'When Life Gives You Lemons...'. It's not it's obvious accessibility that's at the heart of the problem, in fact the track 'You' is an immaculate alt-rap-pop number with a clever hook and some trademark cheek from Slug- 'With a smile like that I just gotta flirt...girl you look like you just got off work'. ... I have listened to Atmosphere for a while now from his early albums to the Felt albums with Murs and now this and i have seen a progression of style over the course of the albums.

Slug's style is becoming more polished and perfected over time and this album is evidence of how far he has progressed as an artist. There is not a poor track on the album and the sound is the usual mixture of depressed reality and upbeat positivity blended together in a unique way and stories told in the way that Atmosphere seem to do best both musically (Ant Production) and lyrically (Slug raps).

There are beats that make your head nod and then songs that make you think deeply and anyone who is already familiar with Atmosphere will feel right ... Read More:

Shimmer [Us Import]

After I found this completely by accident and took a chance on it just based on one song.

The song was Like a feather which I know as a Nikka Costa track. I bought this just to see what it was like. It reminds me very much of Lenny Kravitz at his best which is a very good compliment to this guy. (I love Lenny K)

The album is pretty well rounded with some great tracks on it and is well worth a go if you're after something Lenny-esque.

Pure Bastard Rock

After I found this completely by accident and took a chance on it just based on one song.

The song was Like a feather which I know as a Nikka Costa track. I bought this just to see what it was like. It reminds me very much of Lenny Kravitz at his best which is a very good compliment to this guy. (I love Lenny K)

The album is pretty well rounded with some great tracks on it and is well worth a go if you're after something Lenny-esque.
