Ah, come on, three classic Pogue albums for a few quid, you can't go wrong here. You'll be playing these for years to come, unless the electricity runs out, in which case buy a generator and put 'em back on.

I'm not sure if these are remastered. I suspect not, so audiophiles might be better off buying separately, but they'll be more than good enough for most people.

The first two albums are essential for any Pogues fan. The third contains some classic tracks and also some that sound like The Spinners or almost any Irish pub-folk act at your local beer festival, but it's still worth having.

Such music from punk roots, does remind us that it was very anti-racist, and through these motives developed possibly the greatest song writer ever, possibly second only to Schubert's song cycle of Winter, though Shubert did not write the songs. As Shane was also an immigrant, something not left, or right, but grand. I did not think that the concert would work, but that sincere passion comes through maybe aided by a stream of whiskey. God bless them.

An official 'live' Pogues release is long, long overdue so perhaps one shouldn't really complain about the overall quality of this album. But it is all too sadly evident that in 1991 - the time of this concert - The Pogues were in a state of terminal decline: this live performance feels highly disjointed and one suspects that everyone on stage was busy concentrating on doing their own thing - consequently, nothing really gels and it is no surprise that MacGowan upped and left shortly after this concert was recorded... Still, this is the usual rowdy and raucous Poguetry, MacGowan's lyrics and vocals carry the usual bite and it's all driven by an intense energy.
