I am amazed that the reviewers who gave this such a slating bought it considering the contents are clearly displayed and that these contents do not fulfill their particular agenda, if indeed they did. A review should be given following the purchase of an item and with a sense of fairness, or appreciation for the intention of the people behind its release. To accuse the makers of blatantly selling out is as valid as saying Wild Man Fisher did it for the money.

I bought this knowing that the tracks contained therin bascally sum up listening to John Peel and Dave Fanning(RTE Radio) over the years and as such let me get some stuff on cd that I would not be willing to buy the full albums for, or to replace aged cassette recordings made ... Read More:

What a stomping CD, overall there are some brilliant tracks here. The quality of song craft is exceptional, the vocal performance really builds it will surprise you. The musicianship is also really nice, these people know their craft. Cats like Beyonce must just listen and weep, this is for real.

As a 10 year old someone gave me it and I looked at it with an upturned nose but from the glorious opening of When Doves Cry there's a song for every mood on this compilation. Prince is a musical genius - especially when it comes to writing. He takes an emotion you're feeling and verbalises it so you think "YEAH! EXACTLY!" Thus, if you're new to Prince you'll be surprised that he wrote the original Nothing Compares 2u - made famous by Sinead O'Connor - this version is completely different, a heart-wrenching soulful lament with closer than close Rosie Gaines, that will make you ache to be in love like that. Fans of the recent 80's revival will love Uptown, Let's Go Crazy, 1999 and Prince's version ... Read More:
