Aretha was the acknowledged Queen of Soul, and built on her reputation with this combination of original tracks and interpretations of familiar material. The latter is well represented by "Natural Woman" (Carole King), "Money Won't Change You", here merely uptempo, rather than JBs frenetic original, and a sublime "People Get Ready", which I am sure Curtis would have appreciated.
For original material, the anthem of the hopelessly in love, "Chain of Fools" and the bluesy "Good To Me..." stand ... Read More:

This set is fantastic, in that it covers Nina`s career from her very first recordings for Bethlehem (including of course My Baby Just Cares For Me)right up to the title track from her last album Single Woman(which has just been reissued with some great bonus tracks). Along the way there are numerous brilliant previously unreleased tracks and live recordings, including several from the terrific A Very Rare Evening set. Needless to say with Nina the performances are committed, sometimes quirky and often electrifying. And the dvd performances are long overdue for issue. What`s not so good is the omission of anything from Nina`s Back, Live at Ronnie Scott`s or Fodder In Her Wings, and it would have been wonderful to have the complete Very Rare Evening; ... Read More:

This CD has the same cheap topic (sappy love songs). Especially the ex:leadsinger of Chicago has always played & sung the same rhythm, beat & sound. The voice of the singer sounds very boring, monoton and tedious.
If you're a Heavy Rock fan of bands like Rory Gallagher, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa, The Who, Grand Funk Railroad, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Uriah Heep or AC/DC, you will perhaps dismiss this sappy love song band (Cetera & co). I'd personally never known the other Heavy Rock Fans who respect Chicago....I never see them in my life!
If you are listening to Jimi Hendrix, Pete Townshend, Jimmy Page or Ritchie Blackmore, you are familiar with their usual powerful Rockriffs. You ... Read More:
