Hector Zazou has assembled an array of the great and the abstruse for this collection. I won’t name them; the sleeve makes the details clear and, anyway, their contributions are so out of the normal range of the great majority of their work that the name check is as likely to mislead as to illuminate.

While I'm not sure the album does stray into Will Oldham territory - his music is rather less tame than that which the Great Lake Swimmers produce - like Oldham, the 'Swimmers do produce lyrics and melodies that have a haunting quality. For this reason, the songs on this album have an ethereal beauty that certainly makes them memorable.

As an aside, I think the ‘Swimmers sound just like an updated Red House Painters. A brilliant album if you love the RHPs, Iron and Wine, Sufjan Stevens' etc.

Singles Box 2: 1986-1995

I have the 1981-1985 box set and just HAD to have this to complete the collection! I loved the 1st set because it was like miniature version of the vinyl singles that I had bought way back when. I did not buy the later singles just the albums so it was nice to see them in their mini-form and to get the benefit of all the extras they packed in on these discs. As usual Duran Duran have made sure that quality is maintained and this is a class act. I do not know anyone who does not like 'Ordinary World' or 'Come Undone' - maybe those people ought to invest here and discover some of the other songs that did not hit the charts so easily such as 'Do You Believe in Shame?' or 'Breath After Breath' (which I just love).
