I have and always will be a very big Deep Purple fan. I am 25 Years old and it was this man and his vision with the Birth of Deep Purple and his solo work up to this album, this is the guy that gave me a very big opener into music and a very big influence.

Through to his Classical working's to his Big band sound with Ian Paice and R'N'B .There's nothing this guy that he can not do. And at an age of about 63 now I think this guy is going strong. This is dying breed of musicians so enjoy this guy while it lasts. Not long Live Rock N Roll its Long Live Lordy Rock N Roll.......... Hit that Hammond Organ .........

Destination Motherland: The Roy Ayers Anthology

Search: Smile
by: Roy Ayers

Release Date February 24, 2003
For anybody who seriously craves a 100% guaranteed no-fillers/no-duds selection of `70s jazz funk, rare groove and disco-soul, this album is pretty much like striking pay dirt.

Whilst Roy Ayers is in no way under-rated by the soul, funk and jazz fraternity, he is inexplicably overlooked by the mainstream. This is a shame because, in my opinion, he stands alongside James Brown as one of the true innovators of dance music. He started hitting the right note around the time he set up his own band, Ubiquity, in the early `70s - and didn't stop coming up with the goods for almost two decades. His relentless ability to produce the funkiest hooks, the jazziest chords and the most incredibly hypnotic and addictive rhythms is astonishing. ... Read More:
