Can You Dig It?: The Best of the Mock TurtlesSearch: Smile by: The Mock Turtles Release Date May 05, 2003 It tells you here in the booklet notes about how 'Can You Dig It?' was written all of a rush and a hurry, and it ends up being to The Mock Turtles what 'Stairway To Heaven' is Led Zeppelin; an absolute classic! Now, generally, I detest the adverts or commercial breaks on the telly, but it was an absolute joy when The Turtles' had 'Dig It' as the phone advert, Vodaphone, wasn't it? And it was jammy for them as this album must have shipped about a zillion copies on the strength of it, and good luck to 'em. Agreed, if you listen, the riff is 'pinched' from Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit,' but there again that was 'pinched' from Boston's 'More Than A Feeling;' and so it goes on, history repeats itself, and nothing, but nothing is original anymore, ...
