I buy dance compilations primarily to listen to good mixing between (good) tracks. The track selection on this package isn't awful, OK there are some tracks that perhaps shouldn't be there, but what annoys me slightly is the total lack of any careful mixing between tracks. Some transitions are as smooth as silk, whereas others are a simple fade down and fade up which all takes place in about 3 seconds, or just a crash edit, which I find defeats the point of buying an album such as this.

When will MOS return to letting actual named DJ's mix their output?

I'm a big fan of the Ministry of Sound's more laid-back collections, and the Chillout series is a great way to be introduced to 'intelligent' artists and styles you won't often hear elsewhere. But this album is a long way short of some of the earlier efforts, and I question whether many of the tracks are Chillout at all.

The best Chillout tracks are a downbeat blend of electronic drum & bass, samples and novelty synthesiser noises with more traditional accoustic instruments and vocals, in just the right proportions to send a mellow ripple through your body. There is almost none of that here.

With the current release of Hed Kandi cds you can see the direction that the brand has taken since being bought by MOS. These compilations are no longer about the music but aimed at making money and rank up there with the NOW!!! That's What I Call Music in the cheesy stakes. Acquiring the brand was a huge coup for MOS but with the increasing commercialisation of house music it was going to be interesting as to which way the brand was to go. Unfortunately if you're a fan of house music give this a miss as you might as well just turn on the radio to hear these tunes. If you're a true fan of house music purchase something by Defected or Fierce Angels to hear the real sound of house

For me, an occassional fan of trance music, this was a rash purchase. Every year hoards of compilation dance remixed albums are released and you never know which one to buy. Those you do usually grow on you or you hate. This one grew on me and I'm finding favourites on it all the time - right now I'm addicted to a surprising one, the remix of Paul Oakenfold and Brittany Murphy's Faster Kill Pussycat.

It sports jems like the original Walking Away by The Egg and remixes of Bronski Beat tracks.

If you need some good loud music, great 80s mixes or just some background music I'd recommend this for you!
