Impellitteri is equally as fast a guitarist- if not faster- than Malmsteen. The songs themselves also bear a few similarities to Yngwie's- most obviously the lightning-fast licks/solos and slightly dodgy vocals. But, I found that where Malmsteen fails (being a great guitarist, but fairly poor songwriter), Impellitteri succeeds somewhat. The songs are rougher and heavier, tending more toward metal than rock (and sometimes sounding like thrash), with more power-chord sequences.
