Great, just what the world needs, another compilation of some of the worlds worst bands (and some great ones who are better than this cd) for all the teeny-boppers to enjoy and think they're 'rad'.

For a start, who would skate to pink, the rasmus, or n.e.r.d. etc. Skaters generally listen to actual punk music, e.g. pennywise, not some washed up pop-punk crap.

And to top it all off, some of the finest bands in modern music (Death cab for cutie, brand new, my awesome compilation) are piled on here so that all the 10-year-old-hoody-and-dreddies-sporting-kids can think theyve discovered a 'hip' new band just because theyre not in the charts and in turn boucne about in their living room to them.

The good news about this collection is that only five tracks have already appeared on the rival "Now 57" issued at Easter. The bad news, for mainstream listeners, is that those five are just about the best tracks on it. The rest are either third or fourth choice releases off last year's albums (eg by Beyonce, Dido, Christina, Darkness), or decidely second division pop and dance tracks that, if they made the chart at all, have long since sunk without trace; at the time of writing only six in all are listed in the Top 40.

Pitch perfect vocals and arrangements as tight as two coats of gloss paint. Tigercity play 21st Century power pop, with a sidelong glance to the 80's. You can pretend not to love Tigercity, but you won't be able to hide it.

If I could make one wish this Christmas it would be as follows: Uni / MCA (whatever you're called these days) and Sony / Columbia - please, please, please stop bringing out endless 'best of' and 'greatest hits of' Neil Diamond. These wretched compilations are absolutely useless for the simply reason that it's just not possible to squeeze the best of Neil Diamond onto a single CD. The 'best of' list is just too long. If either of these two record labels wanted to do something really useful they could remaster and reissue Neil Diamond's original albums.
