No second album syndrome for the glorious Amy Winehouse. On 'Back to Black' she has honed and developed her gorgeous jazz edged sound into something truly special!

This album explores a range of styles: from 60's inspired motown, including the James-Bond-theme-tune sounding title track (on which she sounds not unlike Shirley Bassey!), through delicious hip-hop tinged jazz on 'You know I'm no good' to gorgeous ballads including the superb 'Love is a losing game'.

Amy Winehouse's lyrics stand out on this album. She has a talent for writing about quite painful issues (loss of love, as on 'Tears dry on their own' or infidelity on 'You know I'm no good') with matter-of-fact honesty and incredible humour. Her songs make ... Read More:

From the opening track Rehab I knew this was going to be a great album. Winehouse has a genuinely soulful voice that expresses all the different moods of the genre. Besides Rehab, my favorite track is called Love Is A Losing Game, a gem of a song with a beautiful melody in the lost love tradition. Another great one is You Know I'm No Good with its powerful sax. And Me & Mr Jones is a stunner. The music gains a distinctive flavor through the use of samples from classic 1960s pop songs, while the lyrics are intelligent and mature. There is a certain authenticity to this seamless blend of funk, torch, R&B and pop grooves that reaches the heart and soul. im a huge fan of 60s music and love all types of music apart from dance boom boom music and rap and hip hop no talent just talking how talented lol each to there own though this album sounds like its from the 60s with the phil spector sound but with a modern twist to it its cool it just shows you can make a amazeing album about your own life and promblems you face yeh i dont agree with the drug thing and the way she acts sometimes but her talent outshines that for me she is talented and her voice is soulfull and unique and the end of the day she has an addiction listen to addicted the last song on the album!! i cant wait for her next album amy youre a legend and this is a classic buy this you wont regret it!! happy listening
