This album is a treasure, and is much more intelligently crafted than it appears on first listen. It is a fascinating piece of knowing social commentary about a certain part of Britan at a certain time, and it's not pretty, but then it wouldn't be an authentic document if it was. Unfortunately it was probably a victim of its own achievements; because it wasn't by middle class pretty boys whining about their day jobs, it was never going to be fashionable. Also it was way ahead of it's time in terms of what Earl Brutus were trying to do to Rock. As for their live shows... I don't remember how long they were, I just remember them being a bit like a fight in ... Read More: |
