An Incredible use of rhythm, time and many aspects of other styles of music. In my opinion, this album is the best jazz album i have ever heard. Dave Brubeck is a genius and his quartet is astounding! Any-one who does not like this album, can't like jazz.

I really felt I should post the reveiw on Amazon.co.uk also, as there appear to be reviews which relate only to the CD release - same story with US Amazon. Surely there must be others out there that could stand up for this superb SACD album??!!

Although I'm not what I consider to be a great fan of jazz, I have enjoyed Dave Brubeck's music for quite some time. For the last two and a half years or so, I have bought almost only high resolution music (DVD-A or SACD), and was determined to buy this disc soon. A remarkable collection of personal choices by Brubeck spanning the years, 1947-91. Brubeck has left a rich legacy, to which he continues to add. So many memorable performances on these 4 CD's, from little gems like "Non-Sectarian Blues," which he performs with Charles Mingus, to timeless classics like "Blue Rondo A La Turk." The booklet provides a wonderful retrospective of Brubeck's career. He remains one of the great jazz ambassadors of America. What has always impressed me about Brubeck is how freely he adopts so many currents in his music, and defers to the greats like Louis Armstrong on "The Real Ambassador."
