The Early Years 1926-1930Search: Take Five by: Benny Goodman Release Date November 25, 2003 This title of this CD is misleading; anyone expecting lots of Benny Goodman clarinet solos is going to be disappointed. This CD contains a number of jazz recordings which all have Benny Goodman as one of the band members. It is an excellent mixture of styles with a fairly traditional jazz band sound but also has many dance orchestra recordings as well. I often read that white jazz musicians are just imitating black musicians. There are a couple of recordings where the bands are clearly imitating the black bands; but this demonstrates the contrast with the recordings which show the styles more associated with white bands.
