There is no doubt about it, Kottke is one of the worlds best acoustic guitar players. He has all the ability and technique,
and makes playing sound so easy. And he is every bit as good live as on record.
This album is another work from the virtuoso, and it is very pleasant indeed, with - like all Kottke albums - some moments of brilliance and magic that will make you hit the replay button.
However, some of the tunes are not up to much and in places it begins to sound as if Kottke is running out of ideas (musically)and just practising a few routines. Somehow, it lacks the imagination and energy and "spark" of his early stuff. Still, if you're a Kottke fan, you will love it.

this is GENIUS. I know it seems hard to get into but it's not really. Once you, yes dare i say it, 'get it' then you will listen to hard zappa, varese, meshuggah, like it was abba. but that is to take away from this slice of magnificent music. listen, I'm just sparing you my brothers review which will, like other reviews, indicate this as the best album ever made. For those that have difficulty on these pages, grow up. and if you want to sing along, buy clear spot.
