This 2 CD set contains a fair representation of almost all of the Tangerine Dream albums recorded in the period 1973 to 1983 (the only ones missing are "Sorcerer", "Pergamon" and "Cyclone"). While it is not always the best track from each album that makes it into this set, and some are presented in bleeding chunk form only, these discs do give the listener a good overview of each album, making this a good sampler set from which to set out on an exploration of the music of Tangerine Dream's so-called Virgin Years. I don't usually approve of 'best of' collections, and usually rate them accordingly, but I'm prepared to make an exception in this case because of the completeness, variety of programming and value ... If this was a basic, untouched, compilation of ORIGINAL tracks, I'd rate it 5 stars plus. The problem is, the recordings have been tinkered with, adding additional layers (with a VERY broad brush) and possibly even re-recording some bits.

Not my cup of tea, although some newer fans rather like the different feel given to established favourites, so I'd best leave it at that...

If you watched the movie Risky Business and liked it - it probably has something to do with the moody background music that was played during intense moments in the movie.

Intense music for an intense movie. And for me, this was Tom Cruise at his best. Young, energetic, wild and crazy, yet still deep.
Deep in emotion. Emotion that has been fully enhanced by music.

For me, this movie was really deep. And I was only 15 when i saw it. The music was deep and emotional. For me, it is tangerine dream at its best. If you want music that makes you think, or concentrate then get this album just for the tangerine dream songs. This soundtrack is the only place you will find them.

A gift from my sister. Tracks 2,3,10 & 12 are my favourite and reside within my iPod playlist. These tracks make you chill out, as the title suggests.

The style of music reminds you of filler music within films, kind of Jazz Garage if there is such a thing. If you are entertaining guests and you have this on in the background, it will create the perfect mood and ambience for a pleasant evening.
