At ten tracks it is not definitive, but if you are looking for a Paul Young compilation that's a bit different then this is it! First off it has the ALBUM versions of such hits as "Every time you go away", "Wherever I lay my hat" and "Gonna tear your playhouse down". Their extended lengths does make a difference, for example "Every time you go away" has a plane taking off at the beginning. Yet what I find really good about this album is the inclusion of songs that were not hits (contrary the "super Hits" title!). You get 3 album tracks from 'Secret of Association'. As this title is very hard to get on CD (I've only been able to get it on cassette- which then got chewed by my stereo!) you get songs you may never get the opportunity to hear. ... Read More:

This was the follow up to 'No Parlez' and although the singles were not quite as successful I feel the production worked better. There are certainly many nods to its predesessor, such as 'Playhouse' with the Wet Tarts backing up. Paul Young is looking a bit more serious though overall, and there are many highlights. 'Everything Must Change' with its country slide guitar is my favourite song of his, with outstanding backing vocals from George Chandler and co. This and quite a few tracks were written by Young and Kewley. There are the covers of course such as 'A Soldier's Things', showing just how impassioned Young's voice can be. Other highlights include 'One Step' with its orchesteral back up not unlike Colin Blunstone's 'Say You Don't Mind' ... Read More:

Despite this being a Number One album, the three massive hits Paul Young accumulated during 1983 - together with his fabulously rich and powerful voice and 'sexy' appeal, this album was simply dreadful...

No album in my opinion should really exceed 45 minutes in length, but as songs over the years for some reason have got longer, many albums exceed this three quarters of an hour, but when they get to an hour or more, unless the material is exceptionally good, then it all gets a little boring... Zero-Down is made up of members of fat wreck chords bands like strung out, Down by Law, and Pulley, and their experience shows. The band play downbeat punk at lightspeed. The lyrics are sung incredibley well with passion and conviction. My personal fave tracks are Bite the Hand that feeds, Empty Promised Land, Self Medication and the track from Fat Wreck Chords' newest comp, 'Live Fat, Die Young', although I can't remeber its' name the track is the 1st song on the comp and will blow u away. This band is awesome and deserves some more recognition. I would reccommend them to any punker.

The lyrics are sung incredibley well with passion and conviction. If you love NOFX than this is for you. It is punk at its almost very best. It has angst in such songs as 'bite the hand that feeds' but also shows the classic 'my girlfreinds the best'syndrome side of punk. It has some great rifts and will keep you listening to the very end. This is another classic peice of punk mayhem to come from the Fat Wreck Chords label. A super album that will keep you pogoing for hours.
