Johnny Cash is one of the greatest musicians in the history of the country, rock n' roll and popular music genres. This boxset certainly lives up to it's name, and it's price, it is definatly worth the money if you are fanatical about Cash.
The book is huge and has some brilliant photographs, there are also 5 CD's and a DVD of the special celebrating 25 years in the music industry. There is also a featured lithograph from one of Johnny's favourite artists.

Obviously with just 16 tracks this cd is never going to be a complete collection of Johnny's work and it's not meant to be.
This album is for anyone new to Johnny's music and just wants a basic collection of his best known hits to get them started.And this collection does exactly that!
Included are the more obvious classics like Ring Of Fire,I Walk The Line,and Folsom Prison Blues.
But it also includes other gems such as In The Jailhouse Now,A Boy Named Sue,The Ballad Of Ira Hayes and my personal favorite I Still Miss Someone,such a lovely ballad.
So for anyone who's looking for an introduction into the Man In Black,this is the cd to start with....

I ordered this set after seeing it advertised in an email from Amazon. I was not very familiar with Johnny Cash, with the exception of Boy named Sue and Ring of Fire. This double CD really has blown me away. Cash's voice is great but the entertainment comes as much from his banter with the prisoners as from the songs, many of which have jail themes. All in all a great showcase for a natural performer. The sound quality is also excellent demonstrating better stereo effects than many modern albums.

The music is great and well selected.

But B-WARE of an apparently systematic defect: Peter, a previous reviewer had a problem of switched contents. My set has a more serious problem. CD 1 has the contents of cd 3 while cd 3 has its proper contents. This means the 26 or so songs of cd 1 are missing.

This is a typical latent defect. Naturally a long time may go after you buy the set before you notice the defect, so returning it to the seller may be impossible. It is a problem and a fun-eradicating irritation getting this defect remedied.

So you better listen to the discs before you pay the money. Good luck.
Legacy should have been more forthcoming about these defects and withdrawn the sets before sale ... Read More:
