Accompanying Mr. Akita is Atari Teenage Riot's Alec Empire; the Ying to Merz's Yang. This is rhythm vs. noise; an unholy battle between two musicians with a similarly visionary outlook on music, yet completely different ways of achieving it. Merzbow has, according to the liner notes, an "Aztec Doomsday device" capable of producing gigantic black walls of sound, leaving Alec to lay down beat after beat onto the poor, poor individuals in the audience. Neither one blocks out the other; in fact, they work in perfect harmony throughout, creating a live show that ... Read More:

Some of the best heavy metal bands - AC/DC, Accept, etc. - are missing in this album. And, on the contrary, lots of songs which cannot be treated as 'heavy metal' are in there instead.

The answer is...YES of course it is! I was initially put off as, if you own all of Maiden's previous albums, you will already have exactly the same songs as what is on this new best of album. The CD version is great for those who are new to Iron Maiden, as it's a good starting ground for those who wouldn't know where to begin with Iron Maiden's extensive back catalogue!
