Taylor Swift's Fearless debuts at No. 1 on Pop & Country Charts
Taylor Swift owns the charts this week. Her sophomore release Fearless debuts at No. 1, with 592,304 copies sold. This is enough to earn her a No. 1 at the Billboard Top 200 albums as well. This is the largest opening U.S. sales week for a female artist in all genres of music, and puts her at No. 4 behind Lil Wayne, AC/DC and Coldplay for the biggest debut this year. Lastly, her single "Love Story" holds the No. 1 spot on the Country Singles charts for a second week.

back in the old days bands used to release double A side singles all the time. usually it meant no filler and 2 killers. in this case, that's totally true. It is in fact the 2nd of the 2 tracks 'Sunshine' that is the real belter here. coming across like a hybrid of fugazi and hot water music but with their own london drawl evident to hear, these 3 minutes embody all that is great with the passion of great hardcore/punk bands. track 1 'Stories' is also very good, but has a little less conviction than 'Sunshine' - it's more song based.

I dont know off the top of my head where I heard of Brandi Carlile but I can tell you i dont regret it for a minute. After a few weeks of frustatingly listening to her off YouTube I bought this album and her self-titled album.

This album combines folk, rock, country and soul in one amazing package. Highlights for me are the opening track "Late Morning Lullaby", "Turpentine" which Carlile wrote as a teenager, "Have You Ever" and "The Story", the last two written by Brandi's band mate Phil Hanseroth who plays and sings harmonies on most tracks and forms Brandi's touring band along with his brother Tim (who co-wrote a few on the album too). "Josephine" is a rootsy, old style folk tune with perfect 3-part harmony and simple guitar picking.
