If you think about it, a soundtrack ought really to reflect and enhance the tone and texture of a movie. It shouldn't be about taking songs of the moment from bands of the moment. Too often that seems to be the case, and the soundtrack album lacks any form of unity or cohesion. It is often the case that the songs on the album never even featured in the movie. But not in this case, oh no!

I don't think I have ever encountered a movie and soundtrack which are so inseparable. Somehow atmospheric and sentimental, while menacing and industrial at the same time, the soundtrack almost eclipses the movie. It certainly encapsulates it.
