Miles' jazz output from 1985 till his death has been largely dismissed by many jazz critics, but I never subscribed to this view, being a big fan of John Scofield and Bob Berg who were integral to the '85 line-up. If you were a Marcus Miller fan then the 1986 and onwards stuff was right up your street. This collection is the ultimate extravagance and the Amazon price is way below high street price and therefore a must have. OK you get multiple versions of the same numbers on different CDs, but that's the beauty. Settle down and listen to an entire gig one night and then a different one the next. If you are looking to try a smooth jazz album I would recommend hunting down old Jazz FM compliations which are going very cheap on this site eg 101 Eastbound a penny, a bargain with more upto date artists.
