Renaissance Ibiza

I've got a lot of "Ibiza" compilations and a lot of house compilations generally. This is THE one for chilling out on the beach to. Most of these types of compilations are marred by chart friendly trash that is included to lure in the mass market and/or because of other commercial rather than artistic reasons. This one isn't.
The Bar Life and Club Life CDs are good but admittedly not as good the original Renaissance mix album. But that's universally accepted as the pinnacle of the mix album genre so it's hardly surprising. The Beach Life CD on the other hand is epic. Incidentally, the track listing is wrong. The awesome Buena Vida mix of Inner City's classic Good Life closes the album rather than appearing earlier.

Well, come on - was a Bedrock release ever not going to be storming and intelligent? Anyway it is, and from beginning to end you're given an unhurried journey of confident prog house.

The label, the DJ, the reviews here, the prices - all reason enough to buy it without need for painstaking track-by-track analysis. But speaking of tracks, Tszpun's Lost Language is definitely the high-point for me. It teases you by not kicking in just one more time before it's mixed out into the next track, and epitomises Fortier's underlying focus on dark prog house.
