I have been listening to Chill out music well before the term was ever invented (Pure Moods etc. I have heard the competitions efforts (Chilled Euphoria, Deep and Chilled Euphoria, Chill Out Session 1 and 2)and it appears that Unwind follows the traditional Moods format of diverse music styles standing un mixed side by side.

As such the 2 CDs contain every type of relaxing music from chilled house (American Dream)to Classical (Blue Planets) to classic radio rock easy listening (Elton John, David Gray) to 'laid back beats'(Garbage, Portishead) as MOS likes to call it and atmospheric film music (love theme from Blade runner).

Oh dear oh dear oh dear.

I must confess that I haven't got round to the DVD yet, but the CDs are truly dreadful. Use this as a gym motivator and you'll be back in the pub with a beer within half an hour. There's just no power there. You'd be better off getting a couple of Ibiza-style CDs and chucking your favourite tracks onto a compilation of your own.

It seems to have been put together by a committee for starters, and a committee who don't do much exercise. The most activity I was motivated to do while listening to it was the washing up. Club music is simply not the same as motivating music, and we really don't need "classics" like "You spin me right round baby right round" in this day and age.

This compilation is a simple but great idea. Here in London, XFM is the only decent radio station, but boy it is decent! They play brilliant, alternative music across the board and have all sorts of varied shows. One is The Remix, a show where remixes of tracks played on the station are aired. The two DJ's are true music affecianado's, not some celebrity presenter but two people with a passion for great music.

And it's not any two-bit remix that gets played on the show. These are tracks which transform and add to the main track to interesting and creative affect.
